THE PRESIDENT NOMINATES RALPH E. TYSON TO THE FEDERAL BENCH
The President today nominated Ralph E. Tyson to serve as a United States District Court Judge for the Middle District of Louisiana.
Tyson received his B.A. degree in 1970 from Louisiana State University and a J.D. degree in 1973 from Louisiana State University Law School. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1970 to 1978. Since 1993, Judge Tyson has served on the 19th Judicial District Court for the East Baton Rouge Parish. Prior to election to his current position, he served as a Judge for the Baton Rouge City Court, 1988-1993; and as a partner with the law firms of Tyson, Avery & Cunningham, 1983-1988; Pitcher, Tyson, Avery & Cunningham, 1978-1983; and Pitcher & Tyson, 1973-1978. From 1989 to 1991, he has been an Adjunct Professor for Louisiana State University Law School. From 1989, he has served as an Instructor in Criminal Justice for Southern University.
