                 PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES JORGE PEREZ TO 
                    THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON THE ARTS

President Clinton announced today his intention to appoint Jorge Perez of Florida to the National Council on the Arts.

Mr. Perez is president of the Related Companies of Florida, a real estate development firm specializing in the construction, syndication and management of multi- family housing. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Bass Museum of Arts, is Vice Chairman of the Miami Film Festival, and works with the state of Florida on historic preservation projects. Mr. Perez is also the owner of a renowned collection of modern Latin American art and a sponsor of many arts exhibits in the Miami area.

The Council is responsible for advising the Chairperson of the National Endowment for the Arts with respect to the policies, programs and procedures of the agency. In addition, the Council reviews applications to the Endowment for grants and makes recommendations on those grants to the Chairperson.
