PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES HSIN-MING FUNG TO THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON THE

ARTS

President Clinton today announced the recess appointment of Hsin-Ming Fung as a member of the National Council on the Arts.

Ms. Hsin-Ming Fung, of Los Angeles, California, is a co-founder and Director of Design for Hodgetts & Fung Design Associates. Ms. Fung also is a Professor of Environmental Design at the California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, California and holds the Eero Saarien visiting Chair at Yale University's Graduate School of Art and Architecture. In 1991, she was the recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Rome Prize Advance Fellowship. Ms. Fung and partner Craig Hodgetts were awarded the 1994 Architecture Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and most recently the 1996 Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design. Ms. Fung directed the development of several award-winning projects, including the Towell Library at UCLA and the recently completed Egyptian Theater for the American Cinematheque.

Ms. Fung received a B.A. in Behavioral Sciences from California State University and a Masters of Architecture from the University of California at Los Angeles.

The National Council on the Arts advises the Chairperson of the National Endowment for the Arts on policies, programs, and procedures for carrying out the agency's functions, duties, and responsibilities. Council members are chosen for their widely recognized knowledge of the arts or their expertise or profound interest in the arts.
