PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES GREGORY M. FRAZIER AS CHIEF AGRICULTURAL NEGOTIATOR FOR THE U.S. TRADE REPRESENTATIVE

President Clinton today announced the recess appointment of Gregory M. Frazier to serve as Chief Agricultural Negotiator for the U.S. Trade Representative. Mr. Frazier was nominated to the United States Senate on October 19, 2000.

Mr. Gregory M. Frazier, of Abilene, Kansas, is currently the Special Negotiator for Agriculture and Food Policy, a limited non-career appointee in the Executive Office of the President United States Trade Representative. Prior to this position, Mr. Frazier served as Chief of Staff of the Department of Agriculture from January 1995 to March of this year. Mr. Frazier also served as a professional staff member for the House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and Staff Director for the House Subcommittee on Wheat, Soybeans and Feed Grains of the Agriculture Committee. From January 1977 until December 1986, Mr. Frazier served in several capacities for former Congressman Dan Glickman.

Mr. Frazier received a B.A. from Kansas State University in 1975 and an M.A. from the University of Connecticut in 1976.

The Chief Agricultural Negotiator facilitates leadership of the U.S. Government's role in a series of multilateral and bilateral negotiations that will affect all aspects of world agricultural trade.
