STATEMENT BY THE VICE PRESIDENT

I commend the United States Senate and House of Representatives for passing landmark and bipartisan legislation to restore America's Everglades. Today we can begin to make the dream of a renewed Everglades a reality and replenish one of our Nation's most endangered ecosystems. The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan represents one of the largest environmental restoration projects ever attempted. The measure is the product of a bipartisan effort and it enjoys the support of the entire range of affected interests, from developers and farmers to environmentalists, from federal and state agencies to local government.
