            PRESIDENT CLINTON NOMINATES STEPHEN B. LIEBERMAN
                          TO THE FEDERAL BENCH

     The President today nominated Stephen B. Lieberman to the U.S.

District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Stephen B. Lieberman, of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, has served on the Berks County Court of Common Pleas since 1996. Prior to his election to the court, Judge Lieberman was a shareholder at the law firm Lieberman & Rothstein, P.C. (1984-1995). He also served part-time as both an Assistant County Solicitor for the Berks County Solicitor's Office (1984-1996) and an Assistant Legal Counsel for the Auditor General of Pennsylvania (1982). Judge Lieberman began his legal career as an associate at Calvin Lieberman & Associates (1977-1983). Born in West Reading, Pennsylvania, Judge Lieberman received his B.A. degree from Arizona State University in 1974 and his J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1977.
