PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES SALLY KATZEN AS DEPUTY DIRECTOR FOR MANAGEMENT AT

THE OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET

The President today recess appointed Sally Katzen as Deputy Director for Management at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

Ms. Sally Katzen currently serves as Counselor to the Director of the Office of Management and Budget. She has previously served in the Clinton Administration as the Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at the Office of Management and Budget, and as Deputy Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council. She also served in various positions during the Carter Administration.

Prior to joining the Clinton Administration, Ms. Katzen was a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Wilmer, Cutler, and Pickering, specializing in regulatory and legislative issues. She has also worked extensively in the field of administrative law, both in her law practice and in professional activities.

Ms. Katzen was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Smith College and the University of Michigan Law School, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Michigan Law Review. Following graduation from law school, she clerked for Judge J. Shelly Wright of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

The Office of Management and Budget evaluates and formulates management procedures and program objectives within Federal departments and agencies. The Deputy Director for Management oversees the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, and the Office of Federal Financial Management. In addition, the position has overall responsibility for management practices and procedures throughout the Federal government.
