Terrorist Bombing in Sri Lanka

Today's terrorist bombing in Sri Lanka was the latest in a tragic series of violent attacks on civilians there. All friends of Sri Lanka and its people join in condemning this reprehensible act and those who carried it out. The President extends his condolences and those of the people of the United States to the relatives of the victims.

Such terrorism should not and cannot detract from efforts to reach a negotiated solution to the current conflict in Sri Lanka. The United States stands firmly in support of a solution that offers justice and human rights for all the citizens of a unified, peaceful, and prosperous Sri Lanka.
