PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES LISA ROSS AS ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF THE

TREASURY FOR MANAGEMENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

President Clinton today announced his intent to nominate Lisa Ross as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Management and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Ms. Lisa Ross, of Washington, D.C., has served as Acting Assistant Secretary for Strategy and Finance and CFO since December of 1999. She joined the Department of Treasury in 1998 as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Strategy Finance. Prior to her tenure at Treasury, Ms. Ross was Vice President of Strategic Planning for Marriott International and a consultant with McKinsey and Company.

Ms. Ross received a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. from Massachusetts' Institute of Technology.

The Assistant Secretary for Management and Chief Financial Officer reports through the Deputy Secretary to the Secretary of the Treasury on Management matters, and reports directly to the Secretary on CFO matters. The Assistant Secretary provides leadership policy direction and oversight of critical, Department-wide issues related to management and performance improvement, budgeting resource, allocation, personnel and procurement policy, and information and telecommunications systems. The Assistant Secretary also carries out responsibilities pursuant to the Chief Financial Officers Act of 1990 in ensuring sound financial management practices and outcomes within Treasury bureaus and proper stewardship of taxpayer funds.
