Director of the National Economic Council Gene Sperling to Discuss Importance of Passage of China Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR)Today

Gene Sperling, Assistant to the President for Economic Policy, will deliver on-the-record remarks on Friday, May 19, to the Institute For International Economics at a luncheon at the Willard Hotel, Crystal Ballroom, 1401 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW at 12:30.

In his remarks, Mr. Sperling will underscore the imperative of passing China PNTR. He will discuss the economic benefits of the agreement, ongoing efforts to pass PNTR, and the potential of the agreement to push reform in the right direction in China.

Mr. Sperling will be available for questions from the media immediately following each speech. Coverage of both speeches will be open to the press.
