Director of the National Economic Council Gene Sperling to Discuss Importance of Passage of China Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR)in

Dallas, Texas on May 12

Gene Sperling, Assistant to the President for Economic Policy, will deliver on-the-record remarks on Friday, May 12, 2000 at 12 Noon at the Dallas Ambassadors Forum in Dallas, Texas. The speech will take place at International Ballroom of the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas. Mr. Sperling will be available for questions from the media immediately following the luncheon. Coverage of the speech will be open to the press.

In his remarks, Mr. Sperling will underscore the imperative of passing China PNTR. He will the economic benefits of the agreement as well as the potential of the agreement to push reform in the right direction in China.

The Dallas Ambassadors Forum will bring together a number of ambassadors from around the globe and 800-1000 members of Dallas community for this event.
