STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY
National Security Advisor Samuel Berger announced today the appointment of Brooke D. Anderson as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Communications at the National Security Council.
Ms. Anderson previously held the position of Director of the Office of Public Affairs at the Department of Energy since 1997, responsible for communications, press, speechwriting and public information. Prior to that, she served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Press Secretary to Congressman David Skaggs. Earlier, she worked for Congressman Frank Guarini as press secretary and legislative assistant, and, before that, at the law firm of Silverstein and Mullens. From 1986-1988, she worked in Japan as a Mombusho English Fellow.
A native of California, Ms. Anderson grew up there and in Colorado. She received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College.
