               PRESIDENT CLINTON NOMINATES KENT J. DAWSON
                          TO THE FEDERAL BENCH

The President yesterday nominated Kent J. Dawson to the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada.

Kent J. Dawson, of Henderson, Nevada, has been a judge on the Henderson Justice Court of Clark County, Nevada, since 1995. Prior to joining the Nevada state court, Dawson was a private practitioner in Las Vegas, Nevada, from 1979 to 1995. He also worked as a City Attorney (1973-1979) and as an Assistant City Attorney (1972-1973) for the City of Henderson, Nevada. Dawson received his B.S. degree from Weber State College in 1969, and his J.D. degree from the University of Utah School of Law in 1971. Following law school, Dawson clerked for the Hon. James Guinan of the Washoe District Court.
