PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES SUSAN BROPHY McGOWAN TO TRADE POLICY COMMITTEE The President today announced his intent to appoint Susan Brophy
McGowan as a Member of the Advisory Committee on Trade Policy Negotiations (ACTPN).
Ms. McGowan, of Quincy, MA, served at the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs from 1993 to 1998. Prior to that position, Ms. McGowan was the Director of Congressional Relations during the 1992-1993 Clinton/Gore Transition. Her Hill experience includes serving as Chief of Staff to Senator Timothy Wirth and Administrative Assistant to Representative Byron Dorgan.
Ms. McGowan received her Bachelors degree from the University of New Hampshire and a Masters of Public Administration from Harvard University.
The Advisory Committee on Trade Policy Negotiations is responsible for providing overall policy advice on matters concerning objectives and bargaining positions before entering into a trade agreement, the operation of any trade agreement once entered into, and other matters arising in connection with the trade policy of the United States. Staff and administrative support for the Committee are provided by the Office of the United States Trade Representative.
