       PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES MANUEL TRINIDAD PACHECO AS MEMBER
                OF THE NATIONAL SECURITY EDUCATION BOARD

     The President today announced the nomination of Manuel Trinidad

Pacheco as a Member of the National Security Education Board.

Dr. Manuel Pacheco of Columbia, Missouri, is currently the President of the University of Missouri System. Prior to his current appointment, he was President of the University of Arizona, in Tucson. Dr. Pacheco has also served as the President of the University of Houston, Downtown and Laredo State University.

Dr. Pacheco received a BA from New Mexico Highlands University and a MA and PhD from Ohio State University.

The National Security Education Board develops criteria for awarding scholarships, fellowships, and grants. In addition, the Board recommends ways to encourage interest in jobs in government agencies that have a national security role.
