PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES TERESA GHILARDUCCI AS A MEMBER OF THE ADVISORY

COMMITTEE TO THE PENSION BENEFIT GUARANTY CORPORATION

The President today announced his intent to reappoint Teresa Ghilarducci to serve as a Member of the Advisory Committee to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.

Ms. Teresa Ghilarducci, of South Bend, Indiana, is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Notre Dame. From 1994 to 1995, she served as the Assistant Director of the Department of Employee Benefits at the AFL-CIO. Ms. Ghilarducci is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Public Employee Retirement Fund for the State of Indiana and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Interamerican Foundation for the Formation of Labor Pension Funds.

She received B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.

The Advisory Committee to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) advises the Corporation on its policies and procedures relating to the appointment of trustees in termination proceedings, the investment of monies, schedules for the liquidation of terminated pension plans and such other issues as the Corporation may request from time to time. The Advisory Committee focuses primarily upon the Corporation's investments, regulations, insurance program and the defined benefit pension system.
