THE WHITE HOUSE

Office of the Press Secretary

For Immediate Release February 25, 2000
                    RADIO ACTUALITY OF THE PRESIDENT
ON REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL FEDERAL AID FOR HURRICANE VICTIMS

THE PRESIDENT: In communities on the Eastern Seaboard, thousands of Americans are still feeling the impact of Hurricane Floyd. We've already made available more than $2.5 billion in federal aid, but we must do more. That's why, in my supplemental budget request, I'm asking Congress for an additional $347 million to help farmers with crop damage, and to provide economic development and housing assistance.

I urge Congress to pass this additional funding to help more hurricane victims rebuild their lives and their communities.
