            PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES IAN A. BOWLES AS A MEMBER 
                OF THE ENTERPRISE FOR THE AMERICAS BOARD

     The President today announced his intent to appoint Ian A. Bowles

as a member of the Enterprise for the Americas Board.

Mr. Ian A. Bowles, of Boston, Massachusetts, is currently the Associate Director for International Affairs, Council on Environmental Quality and Director of Environmental Affairs, National Security Council. Prior to that, Mr. Bowles served as Vice President at the Conservation International Foundation where he directed the Department of Conservation Policy.

Mr. Bowles received a B.A. from Harvard College and a certificate for a six-week mid-career management course for the World Bank from Harvard Business School.

The Enterprise for the Americas Board seeks to improve the lives of Latin American and Caribbean children and adults through community-based conservation and sustainable use of the environment. The program uses funds in eligible countries for various local environmental projects and board members oversee the activities of grant-making boards within each participating country.
