               PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES DONALD Y. YAMAMOTO 
                     AS U.S. AMBASSADOR TO DJIBOUTI

     The President announced today his intent to nominate Donald Y.

Yamamoto to be U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Djibouti.

Mr. Daniel Yamamoto, of New York City, New York, is a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Counselor. His overseas assignments included tours in Japan, China, United Arab Emirates and Eritrea, where he served as Charge d'Affaires. In the Department Mr. Yamamoto served in the Secretariat and is currently the Deputy Director of the Office of East African Affairs.

Mr. Yamamoto is a graduate of Columbia College, and also earned advanced degrees from the Columbia University Graduate School and the National War College.
