PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES GOVERNOR MARC RACICOT AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE
The President today announced his intent to nominate Governor Marc Racicot to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Governor Marc Racicot, of Helena, Montana, was elected as Governor of Montana in 1992, and was re-elected in 1996. In 1993, Governor Racicot requested, and the Montana legislature statutorily approved the creation of a State Office of Community Service. Since the National and Community Service Trust Act was approved by the US Congress in 1993, Montana has actively participated in the development of AmeriCorps service programs across the state. Governor Racicot is the national chair of Jobs for America's Graduates, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the United Way.
Governor Racicot is a graduate of Carroll College in Helena, and earned a J.D. degree from the University of Montana Law School.
The Corporation for National and Community Service provides opportunities for Americans of all ages to help communities meet critical challenges in the areas of education, public safety, human needs, and the environment. The Corporation oversees three national service initiatives: AmeriCorps, the National Senior Service Corps, and Learn & Serve America.
