STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

Former Senator Warren B. Rudman (R-New Hampshire), Chairman of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, underwent emergency surgery Wednesday, November 17, to correct a congenital condition of his intestine. He is resting comfortably and will remain hospitalized for about a week. The prognosis for a complete recovery is excellent.

Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
