          PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES KATHRYN SHAW AS A MEMBER OF
                    THE COUNCIL OF ECONOMIC ADVISORS

     The President today announced his intent to nominate Dr. Kathryn

Shaw as a Member of the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA).

Dr. Kathryn Shaw, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is an expert in labor economics and human resource management. She is a professor of economics at the Graduate School of Industrial Administration at Carnegie Mellon University and has published extensively on human resources management and innovative managerial practices. Dr. Shaw has served on a Research Panel of the National Science Foundation and as an Editor of the Journal of Labor Economics. A recent professional ranking placed her among the top 50 economists in the profession based on publication record.

Dr. Shaw holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and received her Bachelor's degree from Occidental College.

The Council of Economic Advisors provides the President with economic analysis and advice on the development and implementation of a wide range of domestic and international economic policy issues.
