PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES VALDIS MEZAINIS TO SERVE AS MEMBER OF THE
ENTERPRISE FOR THE AMERICAS BOARD
The President today announced his intent to appoint Valdis Mezainis as a member of the Enterprise for the Americas Board.
Dr. Valdis Mezainis, of Virginia, is currently Director of International Programs, Forest Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Prior to joining the Forest Service in 1995, Dr. Mezainis was the Director of International Research and Scientific Exchanges at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In addition, he was a Peace Corps Volunteer in India and Cameroon.
Dr. Mezainis earned his B.S. degree in Biology from Loyola University (Chicago) and his M.A. degree in Fisheries and Aquatic Ecology from Auburn University. He also received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Soil and Water Science from the University of Arizona.
The Enterprise for the Americas Board seeks to improve the lives of Latin American and Caribbean children and adults through community-based conservation and sustainable use of the environment. The program uses funds in eligible countries for various local environmental projects and board members oversee the activities of grant-making boards within each participating country.
