PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES CHARLES L. KOLBE AS A MEMBER TO THE INTERNAL

REVENUE SERVICE OVERSIGHT BOARD

The President today announced the nomination of Charles L. Kolbe to the Internal Revenue Service Oversight Board.

Mr. Charles L. Kolbe, of Des Moines, Iowa, is currently Chairman of the Board of Red Oak Hereford Farms. He is also owner of the Kolbe Cattle Company, and a partner of the Midland Cattle Company. In addition, Mr. Kolbe is the immediate past president of the Iowa Cattleman's Association, and a member of the National Cattleman's Board of Directors. He was also selected to chair the Iowa Beef Industry Council and served on the Board of Directors of the National Livestock and Meat Board.

Mr. Kolbe received his B.S. in Animal Science from Iowa State University.

The Internal Revenue Service Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998 creates an IRS Oversight Board. The Board is responsible for overseeing the IRS in its administration, management, conduct, direction, and supervision of the execution and application of the internal revenue laws or related statutes and tax treaties.
