PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES SALLY KATZEN AS CHAIR OF THE INTERAGENCY

COMMITTEE ON WOMEN'S BUSINESS ENTERPRISE

The President today announced his intent to appoint Sally Katzen as Chair of the Interagency Committee on Women's Business Enterprise.

Ms. Katzen is currently the Counselor to the Director of the Office of Management and Budget. She formerly served as Deputy Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council. She has previously served in the Clinton Administration as the Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at the Office of Management and Budget. She also served in various positions during the Carter Administration.

Prior to joining the Clinton Administration, Ms. Katzen was a partner in the Washington, DC law firm of Wilmer, Cutler, and Pickering, specializing in regulatory and legislative issues. She has also worked extensively in the field of administrative law, both in her law practice and in professional activities.

Ms. Katzen was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Smith College and the University of Michigan Law School, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Michigan Law Review. Following graduation from law school, she clerked for Judge J. Shelly Wright of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

The Interagency Committee on Women's Business Enterprise is comprised of policymaking officials from various federal departments and agencies. The Committee develops public sector initiatives designed to foster women's business enterprise, consults with the National Women's Business Council, and reviews public sector programs relating to women-owned businesses.
