PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES JOHN H. SINCLAIR AS UNITED STATES MARSHAL FOR THE DISTRICT OF VERMONT
The President today announced his intent to nominate John H. Sinclair to serve as United States Marshal for the District of Vermont.
Mr. John H. Sinclair, of Charlotte, Vermont has served with the Vermont State Police for thirty years and been its Director since 1996. He oversees 296 sworn members and a budget of $28 million. From 1990-1996, Mr. Sinclair was Field Force Commander where he managed the Uniform Division. From 1988-1990, he served as the Criminal Division Commander where he oversaw the homicide unit, the drug task force, the polygraph unit, the fraud and intelligence unit and the Governor's security. Previously, he served as Assistant Field Force Commander, Station Commander, a white-collar crime investigator, and a trooper. Mr. Sinclair received a B.S. degree in business administration from the University of Vermont.
The United States Marshal Service is responsible for providing support and protection for the Federal courts, apprehending Federal fugitives, operating the Federal Witness Security program, maintaining custody of and transporting Federal prisoners, and responding to emergency crisis situations.
