STATEMENT BY VICE PRESIDENT AL GORE

My heart goes out to all the Texas families whose homes were devastated as a result of tropical storm "Bret."

Today, I want to assure Texas families and communities that Federal Assistance is on the way. President Clinton's declaration yesterday of Texas as a major disaster area will bring much needed resources to those counties that suffered damages. These counties include: Aransas, Cameron, Kenedy, Kleberg, Nueces, San Patricio, and Willacy.

As long as Texas families feel the effects of tropical storm "Bret" we will do everything possible to see that these families and their communities get help by making sure that their state receives available assistance for as long as necessary.

Tipper and I will continue to keep the people of Texas in our prayers.
