PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES JEFFERY A. BADER AS U.S. AMBASSADOR TO THE REPUBLIC OF NAMIBIA
The President announced today his intent to nominate Jeffrey A. Bader to be U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Namibia.
Mr. Jeffrey Bader, of Florida, has been a Career Foreign Service Officer since 1975, and has previously served overseas in the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Congo, and Zambia. He was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs in 1996-1997. He has been director of Asian Affairs at the National Security Council since August 1997.
Mr. Bader was born in Brooklyn, New York. He received a B.A. from Yale University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University. He and his wife Rohini Talalla are currently living in Washington, D.C.
