STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

As part of the President's on-going efforts regarding the current conflict in Kashmir, the President spoke again today with both Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan and Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee of India. All agreed the situation is dangerous and could escalate if not resolved quickly.

At Prime Minister Sharif's request, the President will meet him at Blair House tomorrow afternoon to discuss how to resolve the immediate situation.
