           PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES W. CULLEN BATTLE AS MEMBER OF
        THE UTAH RECLAMATION MITIGATION AND CONSERVATION COMMISSION

President Clinton announced today his intent to appoint W. Cullen Battle to serve as a Member of the Utah Reclamation Mitigation and Conservation Commission.

Mr. W. Cullen Battle, of Utah, is currently a Partner/Shareholder at Fabian & Clendenin, where he specializes in complex civil litigation and environmental law. Since 1995, Mr. Battle has served on the Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Civil Procedure. He is currently a member of Utah's Solid and Hazardous Waste Control Board and of Salt Lake City's Public Utilities Advisory Committee. Mr. Battle also serves as the Chair of the Utah Steering Committee on Land and Water Fund of the Rockies and is a Co-founder of the Farmington Bay Advocates, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the wetlands ecosystem of the Great Salt Lake. Mr. Battle received his B.A. in American History and a J.D. from the University of Virginia.

As a Member of the Utah Reclamation Mitigation and Conservation Commission, Mr. Battle will work with the other four members of the Commission to coordinate with federal and state fish, wildlife and recreation agencies the implementation of the mitigation and conservation measures of the Central Utah Project Completion Act of 1992.
