STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

Visit by Russian Special Envoy Viktor Chernomyrdin

Russian President Boris Yeltsin called the President today to discuss the situation in the Balkans. They spoke for approximately 15 minutes. They agreed that Russian Special Envoy Viktor Chernomyrdin would visit Washington tomorrow to meet with Vice President Gore and President Clinton. Mr. Chernomyrdin will discuss his recent meetings in Belgrade with the Yugoslav leadership.
