                 PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES JOHN T. DILLON 
                  AS MEMBER OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE 
                   FOR TRADE POLICY AND NEGOTIATIONS

The President today announced the appointment of John Dillon as a member of the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.

Mr. Dillon, of Greenwich, Connecticut, is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of International Paper. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Council for Air and Stream Improvements (NCASI), and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Council on Economic Education.

Mr. Dillon received a BA from the University of Hartford in 1965 and a MA from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business in 1971.

The purpose of the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations (ACTPN) is to provide overall policy advice on matters concerning objectives and bargaining positions before entering into a trade agreement, the operation of any trade agreement once entered into and other matters arising in connection with trade policy of the United States. Staff and administrative support for the Committee are provided by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
