STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

At the request of the President and the Secretary of State, Deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott will lead an interagency delegation to Southeast Europe at the end of the week to visit countries in the region most affected by the crisis in Kosovo. The Deputy Secretary will visit countries including Albania and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia among other stops. Final details of his itinerary are being worked out.

The Deputy Secretary will thank these countries for their support of the NATO operation in Kosovo and underscore the U.S. commitment to provide support necessary to address the impact of the unfolding humanitarian, security and economic crisis in the region.
