                PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES ANNE UDALL AS A 
             PUBLIC MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE 
               MORRIS K. UDALL SCHOLARSHIP AND EXCELLENCE 
               IN NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY FOUNDATION

The President today announced his intent to nominate Anne Udall to serve as a Public Trustee at the Morris K. Udall Scholarship and Excellence in National Environmental Policy Foundation.

Ms. Anne Udall, of Charlotte, North Carolina is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District. From 1992 to 1996, Ms. Udall was the coordinator of Gifted programs at Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District in Charlotte, North Carolina. From 1987 to 1992, Ms. Udall was a Critical Thinking Resource Specialist in the Staff Development Department of the Tucson Unified School District in Tucson, Arizona and Carrillo Intermediate Magnet School. From 1987 to 1989, she was also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Arizona. From 1981 to 1987, she was a Learning Disabled/Gifted teacher and Evaluator in the Tucson Unified School District. Ms. Udall received her B.A. in secondary education and an M.A. in special education from the University of New Mexico.

The Morris K. Udall Scholarship and Excellence in National Environmental Policy Foundation, a bipartisan board, was created on March 19, 1992 to increase the awareness and importance of the Nation's natural resources. The Foundation fosters a greater recognition and understanding of the role of the environment, establishes programs for Environmental Policy Research and Environmental Conflict Resolution, and develops resources to properly train professionals in environmentally related fields. The Foundation also develops resources to train Native American and Alaskan Native professionals in health care and public policy. The Foundation is located in Tucson, Arizona.
