              PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES SUSAN WEIKERS VOLCHOK 
                           AS A MEMBER OF THE 
                UNITED STATES HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL COUNCIL

The President today announced his intent to appoint Susan Weikers Volchok as a Member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.

Ms. Susan Weikers Volchok, of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, has served for three years as National Chair for State of Israel Bonds, and currently serves as the International Chair. She is also a member of the Board and Executive Committee for the Development Corporation for Israel and the Budget Committee of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations. For her efforts on behalf of the State of Israel Bonds, she was given the Golda Meir Leadership Award.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Council was established in 1979 to provide for the annual commemoration and observance of the Days of Remembrance of the Holocaust, and to construct and operate a living memorial to its victims.
