                   STATEMENT BY VICE PRESIDENT GORE 
                 ON DEATH OF FORMER REP. MORRIS UDALL

Tipper and I were deeply saddened today to learn of the death of former Rep. Morris (Mo) Udall.

Mo Udall made his life's work protecting the environment and serving the people of Arizona. Having served in Congress with Mo, I will always remember him for his dedication to the issues he held close to his heart.

During his 30 years in Congress, he worked hard to protect our environment, shepherding through legislation to protect our nations precious land and resources. He also took important steps to make the government work better for all Americans.

Mo will always be remembered for his wisdom and his wit. His work was a gift to all Americans.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Norma, and their six children and grandchildren.
