STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

The President will travel to the Middle East between December 12-15, 1998.

The President will depart Washington, D.C. early on December 12. The President will visit Israel, Gaza and the West Bank. He returns to Washington late on December 15.

The trip will give the President the opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu and Chairman Arafat and speak to the Israeli and Palestinian people about the importance of the Wye Agreement and the need to continue to support the Middle East Peace Process.
