                   ON RETIREMENT OF LEWIS MERLETTI

Lewis Merletti has made his life's work protecting our nation from the threats of terrorism, ensuring the safety and security of foreign dignitaries, and protecting the families of the leaders of this country. Despite the pressures and difficulties of being in the U.S. Secret Service, he has also been a dedicated father, a loving husband, and a devoted protector of this country.

I know that Tipper and I speak for all Americans when we say that we will miss his leadership, his courage, and his devotion to protecting our nation and our nation's families.
