            PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES F. DUANE ACKERMAN TO THE
                       PRESIDENT'S EXPORT COUNCIL

The President today announced his intent to appoint F. Duane Ackerman of Atlanta, Georgia, to the President's Export Council. Mr. Ackerman is the Chief Executive Officer for BellSouth Corporation.

The Council, established within the Department of Commerce, advises the President on matters related to export performance and develops policy guidance to promote export expansion. The Council also provides a forum for addressing significant trade issues affecting U.S. businesses and workers.
