                   STATEMENT OF VICE PRESIDENT GORE
                   ON AIR FORCE HELICOPTER ACCIDENT

We have received word that two Air Force helicopters participating in a training exercise in Nevada were reported missing early this morning. There were 14 crew members aboard the two helicopters. A search team discovered wreckage about 50 miles north of Nellis Air Force Base, and our search is continuing right now. As we await further information about this terrible incident, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the crew members.
