                      ON THE DEATHS OF TWO MEMBERS 
                   OF THE UNITED STATES CAPITOL POLICE

As a former member of the House and Senate, and now as the President of the Senate, I have long admired the dedication and professionalism of the fine men and women of the United States Capitol Police.

Tipper and I were very saddened to hear the news today that two members of this police force made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Our hearts go out to the families of these two American heroes.
