State Visit by President Havel of the Czech Republic

The White House is delighted to announce that President Vaclav Havel of the Czech Republic has accepted President Clinton's invitation to have a State Visit to Washington, September 15-18, 1998. This visit will recognize President Havel for his extraordinary contributions to the development of democracy and human rights in Central and Eastern Europe and throughout the world. We will also celebrate the Czech Republic's anticipated membership in NATO and the deepening of our ties as allies.
