PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES FORMER SENATOR J. JAMES EXON
AS MEMBER TO THE AIR FORCE ACADEMY BOARD OF VISITORS
The President today announced his intent to appoint Senator J. James Exon as a Member of the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors.
Senator J. James Exon, of Nebraska, was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1978. While in office, he served on the Senate Armed Services Committee and chaired the Nuclear Deterrence, Arms Control and Defense Intelligence Subcommittee. He also served as a member of the subcommittees on Coalition Defense and Reinforcing Forces and Regional Defense and Contingency Forces. Senator Exon announced in March 1995 that he would not seek a fourth term. Senator Exon was elected Governor of Nebraska in 1970 and in 1974.
The United States Air Force Academy Board of Visitors provides recommendations to the President regarding the Academy's morale and discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods and other matters relating to the Academy.
