PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES JOHN BRUCE CRAIG AS U.S. AMBASSADOR TO THE SULTANATE OF OMAN
The President today announced his intent to nominate John Bruce Craig to be U.S. Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.
Mr. John Bruce Craig, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service. He has served in Saudi Arabia, Libya, Egypt, Haiti, and the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs in the Department of State during two tours in Washington, D.C. He was also the Director of the Junior Officer Division in the Bureau of Personnel during one of his Washington assignments. Most recently, Mr. Craig was the Deputy Chief of Mission in Damascus, Syria (1988-1992) and Bogota, Colombia (1992-1995). He is currently the Director of the Office of Arabian Peninsula Affairs in the Near East Bureau of the Department of State.
Mr. Craig received his B.S. in Foreign Service from the School of International Service at the American University in Washington, D.C. He speaks Arabic, French and Spanish.
