                       ON TODAY'S ECONOMIC NEWS

Today, we received the latest evidence of America's economic renaissance. Last month, our economy added nearly 300,000 new jobs. Since President Clinton and I have taken office, more than 16 million new jobs have been created.

Unemployment remains at a 28-year low, real wages continue to rise at their fastest pace in a quarter-century, and inflation remains low and stable.

America's economic strategy is working -- and that is why America's job machine is truly humming.
