                    STATEMENT OF VICE PRESIDENT GORE 
          ON THE 3OTH ANNIVERSARY OF ROBERT F. KENNEDY'S DEATH

Tomorrow is the 30th anniversary of the passing of one of the greatest Americans ever to serve in public life -- Robert F. Kennedy.

In his short but brilliant lifetime, Robert Kennedy was a prophet of everything possible -- of economic opportunity and social justice; of a nation that uses its strength to tackle even tougher challenges and uses its prosperity to lift up all who had been left out. He was a great inspiration to me and to my entire generation.

I am grateful that his torch is now carried by his wife Ethel, and by the remarkable foundation that bears his name. And all Americans are grateful that his children have upheld the commitment to public leadership, public service, and community action that Robert Kennedy instilled in us all.
