Washington, DC -- Vice President Gore today announced that Audrey Tayse Haynes, former Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Women's Initiatives and Outreach, will be Mrs. Gore's new chief of staff, replacing Susan Liss.

"I am very pleased that Audrey Haynes will be joining our staff," Tipper Gore said. She also served as Chief of Staff to Kentucky Lieutenant Governor Dr. Stephen L. Henry.

Ms. Haynes also formerly worked as Executive Director of Business and Professional Women/USA and the Business and Professional Women's Foundation, where she coordinated and advocated policy to improve the lives of working women and families. Prior to that, Ms. Haynes worked to improve literacy in America as the Executive Director of the Kentucky Literacy Commission.

Ms. Haynes will replace Susan Liss, who is leaving to become the Director of the Women's Health Project at the National Women's Law Center.

In addition, the Vice President announced that Residence Manager, Philip Dufour will take on the additional duties of Deputy Chief of Staff to Mrs. Gore and Social Secretary for the Vice President and Mrs. Gore. Mr. Dufour has been Residence Manager and Social Secretary since 1994. He has worked for the Clinton Administration since 1993.
