The President today awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal to Albert Abramson. The text of the citation reads as follows:

ALBERT ABRAMSON

A successful businessman and dedicated philanthropist, Albert Abramson has earned our lasting gratitude for his work to bring the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum from blueprint to reality. With quiet determination, he skillfully mobilized financial resources and architectural and construction talent to help create a lasting monument to the triumph of the human spirit that is both a poignant reminder and a compelling, cautionary lesson. Because of Albert Abramson's vision and commitment, the museum not only keeps alive the memory of those lost during the Holocaust, but calls us to remain forever vigilant in defending our precious human rights and democratic freedoms.
