Statement by the Press Secretary

The President is pleased to support the creation of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Holocaust Assets in the United States (S. 1900). The Commission will focus its research on the collection and disposition of Holocaust-era assets in the United States, particularly those that came under the control of the U.S. government, and will complete its work by the end of 1999. As we finish the business of the twentieth century, Americans must examine difficult aspects of our history and determine how to build a better world for our children in the next millennium.
