President's Trip to Europe

President Clinton will attend the Birmingham Summit, May 15-17, the 23rd annual meeting of the Heads of State of the world's leading industrialized democracies. The eight Leaders will deepen their ongoing efforts to extend the benefits of global integration by focusing their discussions on strengthening the global economic system, meeting the threats posed by transnational crime, and expanding the opportunities for employability in the 21st century. The President will also participate in the semi-annual U.S.-EU Summit with the United Kingdom and the European Commission on May 18 in London.

President Clinton is pleased to accept an invitation by Chancellor Kohl to visit Germany prior to his visit to the United Kingdom.
